Cape Ann Plein Air preserves and promotes Cape Ann’s legacy as the birthplace of American Plein Air painting, and enhance the local economy. This is made possible through the close collaboration of committed supporters from across the region — businesses, regional arts and cultural organizations, and the Cape Ann communities of Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the Sea — working with CAPA organizers to offer a robust, weeklong program of painting competitions, exhibitions and education.
This weeklong festival will enrich and expand the plein air tradition while helping artists sell their newly inspired work. Join us this fall, when the Cape Ann light is at its best, and the focus will be on artists at work and the connoisseurs of their finest work made en plein air.
Up to 40 juried professional plein air artists will paint throughout Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester-by-the-sea for six days, while special events in true Cape Ann style provoke, entertain, and enlighten!
