Dear Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce Members,
As we turn the page to the holiday season, I hope you had the chance to enjoy Thanksgiving with loved ones and take time to relax and recharge. November was a productive month for the Chamber, marked by exciting events and impactful advocacy efforts.
Last week, we launched the second phase of the Cape Ann Conversations Podcast Series in collaboration with Streamography, featuring a powerful panel discussion with local veterans. This episode sheds light on challenges faced by the veteran community while sharing stories, resources, and ways to support them. If you haven’t tuned in yet, you can find the podcast on YouTube , Facebook, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, I Heart Radio, and Amazon Music. Sharing this content helps amplify the voices of our community and fosters greater understanding.
Networking remains at the heart of the Chamber’s mission. This month, our Businesswomen’s Committee Annual Fall Event welcomed Kristina Crestin of HGTV as the keynote speaker, inspiring attendees with her insights and expertise. Additionally, in partnership with Discover Gloucester and the North of Boston CVB, we hosted the Annual Summer Season in Review, sharing industry trends and planning future collaborations in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
On the advocacy front, the Chamber worked diligently to represent our business community. At the Gloucester City Council meeting, we successfully advocated to maintain the current tax shift to commercial, industrial, and personal property, saving businesses vital funds. In Essex, our collective efforts contributed to favorable residential zoning outcomes, demonstrating the power of collaboration between businesses, town officials, and the Chamber.
We’re excited to have recently debuted the Mistletoe Madness Shopping Program in Manchester-by-the-Sea and Rockport. This initiative encourages local shopping by offering raffle entries for every $100 spent with participating merchants. Let’s rally around our local businesses during this festive season—every purchase makes a difference.
Finally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Karen Ristuben, our 2024 Board President. Karen’s tireless advocacy for our local artists and creatives has enriched our culture, community, and economy. Her leadership has been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful.
Wishing you and your family a joyful holiday season filled with warmth and happiness.
Sincerely,
Steve Buckley, CEO Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce
