The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Seaside Boutique and Beads, 23 Dock Square, on Thursday, April 20, to celebrate the shop’s one-year anniversary.
The boutique is open seven days a week throughout the year, featuring handmade jewelry and purses, paintings by local artists and other unique handmade items. The shop also has a large selection of beads and jewelry making supplies. Customers can custom design their own jewelry and have the staff create it or make it themselves. Free instruction is always available. The store caters to all ages and has a kid’s area in the back room.
Seaglass can be brought in and fashioned into a unique piece of jewelry.
The store also offers beading parties for bridal events, birthdays, business, or friend and family get-togethers in a workshop that can accommodate 20 people. Upcoming classes, workshops and other events are posted on Facebook.
Seaside Boutique and Beads is owned by Susan Hough who is assisted by her daughter, Lucinda, who designs jewelry, and her son, Duncan, who helps with bookkeeping. Susan had managed the store, formerly known as Beadles, for seven years before purchasing it in June.
