CEO & President’s Update – November 2025
November 4, 2025
As the air turns crisp and the last of the foliage gives way to twinkling lights, Greater Cape Ann continues to buzz with energy and connection. Before we look ahead to a full November, we want to take a moment to reflect on an active October and the many ways our members came together to celebrate, learn, and support one another.
We began the month in Manchester with a welcoming Business After Hours at Mariposa and Friends. Members enjoyed exploring this charming new shop while catching up with colleagues in a relaxed, festive setting. It was the kind of evening that reminds us why local business life on Cape Ann is so special—friendly faces, good conversation, and a true sense of community.
Just a few days later, Rockport HarvestFest brought downtown Rockport to life with music, food, and family fun. From the popular Apple Pie Bake-Off to the incredible lineup of local artisans and vendors, it was a perfect fall day. The enthusiasm of the crowd and the smiles throughout Dock Square showed how much this event means to the community.
The celebration continued in Essex with the 40th Annual ClamFest. Sunshine, seafood, and small-town pride filled Shepard Memorial Park as thousands gathered to enjoy the craft fair, local entertainment, and the famous Chowder Competition. This milestone year was especially exciting as The James Pub + Provisions earned both the Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice awards for Best Chowder—a well-deserved honor and a highlight of the day.
We closed out the month with an inspiring Businesswomen’s Luncheon at the Beauport Hotel. A panel of local leaders and entrepreneurs shared stories of resilience and creativity that left the room energized and inspired. It was a true celebration of the women shaping Cape Ann’s business community.
Looking ahead, our focus now turns to one of the Chamber’s most important events, the All Hands on Deck Annual Fundraising Auction on Thursday, November 13, at Cruiseport Gloucester. This evening plays a vital role in supporting the Chamber’s programs throughout the year. It’s always a memorable night of camaraderie and spirited bidding on incredible local items and experiences. More than anything, your participation matters—attending, sponsoring, or bidding all directly help sustain the work we do together. We hope you’ll join us and help us finish the year strong.
Later this month, we’ll gather for a Business After Hours hosted by GMGI. This event will be a great chance to connect with fellow members and learn more about the innovative work happening on Gloucester’s waterfront.
Even as we wrap up the fall season, our team is hard at work preparing for the holidays. From Christmas in Rockport to Christmas by the Sea in Manchester-by-the-Sea, these celebrations will soon fill our downtowns with lights, music, and the joy of shopping local. As you begin your holiday shopping, we encourage everyone to think local first—because every purchase made here helps keep our community strong and our storefronts vibrant. Together, we are truly Powered by Local.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Every event, every handshake, and every show of community spirit helps make Greater Cape Ann the place we’re proud to call home.
Respectfully,
Jim Brown, President, GCACC Board of Directors
Sam Bevins, CEO, Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce
