As the 2024 summer season winds down, we want to take a moment to reflect on what an amazing season it has been. The downtown areas across Greater Cape Ann were filled with happy tourists from nearby towns, other states, and all over the world. These visitors, all drawn by a shared love and curiosity for our magnificent and unique region, contributed to the vibrant atmosphere we enjoyed this summer.
The Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with our municipal partners, is incredibly proud to have hosted numerous cherished community events throughout our cities and towns. Events like Ipswich Downtown Tuesdays, Gloucester Block Parties, Festival by the Sea, and the Waterfront Festival were outstanding, bringing together hundreds and thousands of locals and tourists alike to enjoy entertainment, food, crafts, and, most importantly, each other’s company.
These events would not have been possible without the amazing support from our Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce staff, Board of Directors, city and town officials, sponsors, and the countless volunteers who devoted their time and energy. We are profoundly grateful to all who support our events, whether by attending one event or several. Your involvement makes a significant difference.
With autumn approaching, we look forward to the return of many beloved events, including Blackburn Brewfest, Rockport Harvest Fest, and Essex Clam Fest. These celebrations are possible because of the Chamber’s efforts and the support we receive from our community. One event we are particularly excited about is our Annual Love Greater Cape Ann Auction, set for September 26th at Cruiseport Gloucester. As the Chamber’s largest fundraiser, the proceeds from this event support all our initiatives throughout the year. The auction promises an incredible assortment of items, including unique experiences, local art, trips, sports tickets, and so much more! Don’t miss out—reserve your ticket, or even a full table for friends or co-workers.
The fall is also an ideal time to consider getting involved with one of the Chamber’s many committees, councils, or division meetings. This is a perfect way for you or your business to engage, affect positive change, give back to the community, and make valuable connections through our network of 1,000 members.
We are very excited to have successfully launched our Podcast Series: Cape Ann Conversations! We are set to air our 5th episode and the Podcast Series focuses on meaningful conversations with our members, learning about their businesses and hearing their unique stories. You can find the Cape Ann Conversations Podcast on the Chamber Blog, YouTube, Facebook, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, I Heart Radio, and Amazon Music.
Finally, as the summer crowds begin to fade and the crisp autumn air returns, please remember to shop locally and support the businesses that are the backbone of our community. Our small businesses rely on all of us to thrive, and your support helps sustain the vibrant communities we cherish.
Wishing you all the best,
Karen Ristuben, President, GCACC Board of Directors
