Who are you, and what is your business?
We are a small female owned non profit that is dedicated to helping women small businesses and entrepreneurs grow their business by providing affordable strategic solutions through events, experiences, and free monthly meet ups. We have a board of 6 women and were founded by two strong female business owners.
Please provide a brief description of your company.
Our mission is to help female small business owners and entrepreneurs hatch strategic solutions to grow their business. As a non-profit we are dedicated to offering events, experiences and monthly meet ups that focus on education, connection and community.
What inspired you to start your business, and what keeps you going?
As a female small business owner I loved being a solopreneur but often times it was lonely, and could feel daunting trying to solve business solutions with just a team of 1. As my business grew so did my compassion for other female small business owners who were starting out. I did not want them to not go for something because they felt frustrated, or alone.
What aspect of your business are you most passionate about?
We grew our business in the first two years by hosting monthly meet ups for small business owners. They were free and our speakers were committed to sharing their tools and strategies for growth. It helped to create a trusting community where women are supporting women and not just trying to get ahead.
Is there something unique about your business that you’d like to share that most people wouldn’t know about?
We are focused on women, why? Because we feel women have the hardest time getting their business off the ground. Not because they do not have an amazing idea sbut research has shown they have fewer connections to people who can provide equity, strategy and connections. We want to change that for female small business owners.
What sets your business apart from other similar businesses?
Like many other business networking groups we are committed to bringing women together, the difference for us, is keeping costs low, avoiding a subscription model, and offering events and experiences that go beyond empowering women and really offer up everything from new business plans, to strategy, and workshops that help women feel more confident.
Do you have a recent accomplishment or achievement you’d like to highlight and share with others?
We are proud of the time and effort we took to become a registered non-profit. We feel this allows us to offer more education at an affordable cost and connect with woman throughout all communities.
Do you have a goal you want your business to achieve in the next one, 5, or 10 years?
One goal at a time. We have a women’s business conference launching in September. Our goal is to fill the seats, 100 tickets are being sold for women who want to invest in their business and themselves. Following that event we plan to evolve our monthly meet ups by offering more female business owners with an opportunity to host a meet up at their brick and mortar, which we know is a great way to drive people into their business and create long lasting meaningful connections.
Why do you love the Greater Cape Ann region and doing business locally?
I owned and operated a fitness studio in this area for 20 years. The communities are loyal. I love how people support each other in good times and in bad and being an empath, I always want to find a way to move my community forward. I believe that I started with wellness and the natural progression is to help people feel more financially secure.
As someone doing business in this area, how has or how can the Chamber help your business?
I am new to the chamber and when I owned my fitness business I did not have enough time to get involved with the chamber, that bothered me and I always said if I start another business I really want to invest in the chamber and find ways not only to elevate my own business but others too. I think this is a great start.
