Interim Director’s & President’s Update – July 2025
July 1, 2025
Summer is officially in full swing across Greater Cape Ann! The sunshine, sea breezes, and steady flow of visitors are fueling a vibrant energy that’s carrying through our downtowns, events, and businesses. It’s been a promising start to the season, and one filled with meaningful community connection.
In June, we proudly wrapped up our Small Business Weeks celebration, honoring outstanding local businesses and community impact awardees across all five of our member communities. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the receptions—your support underscores the importance of recognizing the hardworking businesses and organizations who make Cape Ann thrive.
The Chamber was also proud to support Cape Ann Pride throughout June, with celebrations highlighting the vibrancy and inclusivity of our region. From flag-raisings to community gatherings, the month was filled with moments that reminded us how powerful connection and visibility can be. We remain committed to supporting our LGBTQ+ community throughout the year.
Another major highlight was the 250th Anniversary Reenactment of the Battle of Bunker Hill, held June 21–22 at Stage Fort Park. Thousands gathered to experience the largest Revolutionary War reenactment in New England this year, complete with living history encampments, an amphibious landing at Half Moon Beach, and dramatic tactical demonstrations. The Chamber was thrilled to co-sponsor an information table with Discover Gloucester, welcoming attendees and distributing visitor guides and local information to nearly 20,000 guests over the weekend. It was an unforgettable event that honored our past while strengthening our community ties and regional visibility.

June also featured the Multi-Chamber Networking Event at the beautiful Misselwood Events at Endicott College in Beverly. Half a dozen Chambers from across the North Shore came together for an evening of networking, connection, and celebration with a stunning oceanfront backdrop. We were thrilled to represent Greater Cape Ann among such a dynamic regional group of business professionals.
Looking ahead, July brings more exciting opportunities to engage with the community and support our local businesses. On Tuesday, July 9, the Businesswomen’s Committee will host a summer mixer at the historic Sargent House Museum in Gloucester. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect while enjoying one of Gloucester’s most treasured historic properties.
Just a few days later, on Friday, July 12, the first Gloucester Block Party of the season will transform Main Street into a pedestrian-only celebration from 6 to 10 PM. With live music, local food, street performers, family fun, and shopping galore, this is summer in Gloucester at its best.
Then on Tuesday, July 16, we invite you to join us for our Business After Hours at Rockport Brewing Company. This new taproom offers the perfect setting to relax, connect with fellow Chamber members, and enjoy a refreshing taste of local brews.
Also beginning this month is Ipswich Downtown Tuesdays, a free weekly community music series that runs through the end of August. Featuring live local music in a welcoming outdoor setting, these family-friendly events are a great way to enjoy a laid-back summer evening. We encourage attendees to grab a bite to eat at one of Ipswich’s great restaurants—or bring your picnic—and settle in for a night of entertainment and community spirit. Many thanks to our generous sponsors for making this series possible.
As always, we continue to welcome visitors at our Chamber offices and kiosks, while distributing thousands of copies of the Greater Cape Ann Guide, Greater Cape Ann Map, and Rockport Map. These tools help spotlight the very best our communities have to offer during these peak summer months.
Wishing you a joyful, successful, and sunshine-filled July. We hope to see you at one of our events—or simply out and about supporting our local businesses.
Respectfully,
Jim Brown, President, GCACC Board of Directors
Sam Bevins, Interim Director, Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce
