The tourism community came out in force on May 4 for the annual Cape Ann Spring Tourism Mixer, and the spirit of optimism and cooperation was clear throughout the evening. The Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce joined with partners Discover Gloucester and the town of Rockport to bring together more than 75 business and organizations representing all of the Cape Ann communities and all facets of tourism across the region. The focus was on “what’s new” – and there were plenty of examples of new and exciting happenings. We heard about additions to the tourism scene and from others celebrating re-openings, milestones, and changes that continue to make Cape Ann a great place to visit. Promotional materials were shared, and many friendships and connections were made – and renewed. We also got a taste of Cape Ann with food and beverages donated by area restaurants. Our host was the Vista Motel, and a highlight of the evening was a ribbon-cutting marking the opening of their new Breakfast Pavilion, a further reflection of event’s theme. All this and more combined to make this a very successful Spring Tourism Mixer. If this year’s gathering is any indication, the future is very bright for Cape Ann tourism!
