April GCACC Update from Caitlin & Ken
Spring is in the Air and GCACC is Getting Ready for a Busy Season
March was an incredibly busy, impactful, and fun month! Highlights include: an informative and impassioned Economic Outlook Breakfast on Housing by local realtor and Housing advocate Cynthia Nina-Soto; our annual Winter Birding excursion to Stellwagen Bank; the Irish Sweepstakes – in Ipswich for the first time – where we gave-away $20,000 in cash prizes; and our marquee event, a sold-out Annual Celebration in Roaring 20’s style, where we welcomed Caitlin and the new Board, and thanked our exiting Board members. We also held several community Division Meetings, plus an important forum with our State Representatives and education leaders to address challenges on the critical topic of Social Emotional Learning with our students.
Spring is in the air, and with the warming weather, we offer new opportunities to connect and grow your business. We continue offering two networking opportunities each month. Our popular Coffee & Connections is the first Thursday (April 7) at 9 AM and is virtual. Our Business After Hours is in person on the 6th from 5 to 7 PM at BankGloucester in Ipswich. In addition, the ever-popular Businesswomen’s Mixer is scheduled for April 7 at the Crow’s Nest from 5 to 7 PM. April is also the month that we go to print with all our 2022 publications for distribution in May as well as collect new promotional materials from our hospitality businesses for the start of the tourism season. April is also the key planning month for our upcoming Education Fundraiser Golf Tournament at Bass Rocks. Proceeds from this event support all that we do with our local schools through our Business Education Collaborative including providing scholarships to our Cape Ann students. Please contact us if you would like to play golf or sponsor this important and fun event (golf foursomes are almost sold out so act quickly).
Our Cape Ann Community Foundation just completed their fifth low number license plate auction. Eleven plates were sold, raising more than $17,000! These funds go towards improved regional promotion, economic development, and training/education. This is the sixth year of funding, and grant applications have just been released and are due by June 1. Visit lovecapenn.com if you would like more information. Show the love with a new Cape Ann License plate!
