CEO & President’s Update – January 2026
January 6, 2026
As we begin a new year, Greater Cape Ann enters January with a renewed sense of optimism, momentum, and anticipation. While the holiday decorations may be coming down and the pace of daily life begins to settle, this time of year is anything but quiet at the Chamber. January provides an important opportunity to reflect on the successes of the past season while looking ahead to what promises to be an exciting and impactful year for our business community. Before diving into what’s ahead, we want to take a moment to reflect on a busy and festive December.
December was filled with cherished traditions that brought our communities together and supported local businesses during the most important retail season of the year. Signature events like Christmas in Rockport and Christmas by the Sea in Manchester once again showcased the charm, creativity, and community spirit that define Cape Ann. These celebrations drew residents and visitors alike, encouraging shopping local, dining out, and enjoying the unique experiences offered in each of our downtowns.
In addition to community-wide festivities, the Chamber hosted five holiday parties across Greater Cape Ann, providing meaningful opportunities for members to connect, celebrate, and strengthen relationships. These gatherings are always a highlight of the year, offering a chance to come together outside the busy workday, reflect on shared accomplishments, and look ahead with enthusiasm. The strong turnout and warm atmosphere at each event were a powerful reminder of the value of collaboration and community within our membership.
As we turn our focus to January, the Chamber is fully engaged in preparing for the year ahead. This month is centered on planning, organization, and setting the foundation for Behind the scenes, staff and volunteers are finalizing event calendars, building timelines, advancing committee priorities, and shaping new initiatives that will continue to support our business community, advocate for our members, and enhance the quality of life across Greater Cape Ann. There is much to be excited about as ideas take shape and plans move from concept to action.
January also marks an important leadership transition for the Chamber. We are pleased to welcome new members to our Board of Directors and to introduce our new Board President, Keith Harris of Choice Graphics. Keith brings creativity, energy, and a deep understanding of the local business landscape, and we look forward to working with him as he helps guide the Chamber into its next chapter. We are grateful to our outgoing leadership for their dedication and service and are excited about the perspective and vision our new Board will bring.
One of the most anticipated moments of the month will be our Annual Celebration on Friday, January 23, at Floriana in Ipswich. This year’s event reflects the creativity and vision of our new Board President and intentionally breaks from tradition. Designed to be immersive, engaging, and a bit unexpected, the evening promises a fresh take on our annual gathering—one that encourages connection, sparks conversation, and sets an exciting tone for the year ahead. While we’re keeping a few surprises under wraps, we can confidently say this celebration will be unlike anything we’ve done before and a memorable way to kick off the new year.
As we move into 2026, we remain deeply grateful for the continued support, involvement, and partnership of our members. Whether you’ve attended an event, served on a committee, volunteered your time, or chosen to shop local, your engagement strengthens our communities and fuels the work of the Chamber. Together, we look forward to another year of collaboration, innovation, and shared success as we continue building a stronger Greater Cape Ann.
Warmly,
Keith Harris, President, GCACC Board of Directors
Sam Bevins, CEO, Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce
