President’s & CEO’s Update – February 2026

February 3, 2026

After January, which delivered more snow than most of us ordered, winter has certainly made itself known across Greater Cape Ann. While the season naturally brings a slower outward pace, this time of year remains an active and important one for the Chamber. February is a key planning month, offering space to step back, assess priorities, and focus on the preparation that will shape a successful year ahead for our business community. Before turning fully toward what’s next, it’s also a fitting time to reflect on the strong foundation laid in January.

January marked an energizing start to the year, highlighted by moments of connection, leadership, and forward-looking conversation. One of the month’s signature milestones was our Annual Celebration, held on January 23 at Floriana in Ipswich. The evening brought members together to recognize the strength and resilience of Greater Cape Ann’s business community and reflected a fresh, creative approach to this annual gathering. We are especially grateful to our presenting sponsor, Institution for Savings, whose generous support helped make the event possible and contributed to a memorable start to the year.

January was also significant for Chamber leadership. On January 14, the Chamber held its Annual Board of Directors Strategic Retreat at the Crane Estate. This dedicated time allowed Board members to engage in thoughtful discussion around goals, priorities, and opportunities for the year ahead, while strengthening alignment around the Chamber’s mission and direction. We were also pleased to welcome new members to the Board of Directors, whose perspectives and expertise will help guide our work and support the continued growth and impact of the organization.

As we move into February, the Chamber is fully immersed in planning and preparation. Much of this month’s focus is on the behind-the-scenes work that ensures our programs and events continue to deliver value. The team is actively developing details for our summer events, annual publications, and core programs—building timelines, refining logistics, and coordinating efforts to ensure everything is positioned for success well before the busy season begins. This planning phase is essential to maintaining the quality, consistency, and impact our members expect.

In addition to long-term planning, we are also preparing for upcoming programs designed
to support local businesses in practical and meaningful ways. A Wellness Fair will take
place on February 25 at the Cape Ann YMCA from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., offering a focus
on health, balance, and well-being for employers, employees, and the broader community.
This will be followed by a Marketing Seminar on February 26 at 5:30 p.m., providing insights
and tools to help businesses strengthen their outreach and visibility. We are also planning a
February Business After Hours during the third week of the month and will share full details
with members as soon as the location is confirmed.

As February continues, the work happening now—often quietly and out of view—will shape
the experiences, opportunities, and connections that define the year ahead. We remain
grateful for the engagement and support of our members, volunteers, and partners, and we
look forward to sharing more as plans continue to take shape. Together, we are building a
strong foundation for another impactful year across Greater Cape Ann.

Warmly,
Keith Harris, President, GCACC Board of Directors
Sam Bevins, CEO, Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce
