CEO & President’s Update – June 2024
As we transition from May to June on Greater Cape Ann, it is important to reflect on such an amazing May, as well as highlight what lies ahead in June.
Once again, May did not disappoint. Whether you took a moment to enjoy nature’s bloom or welcomed the return of our seasonal visitors, it was evident that Greater Cape Ann is full of life. May was also a month of special milestones, including the return of a very successful Motif No. 1 Day, which celebrated the rich art, culture, and history of Rockport. The Chamber’s mission is to support the arts in our communities, and events like Motif No. 1 Day exemplify this commitment.
Additionally, the Chamber, along with the Cape Ann Pride Coalition, launched the first Cape Ann Pride Weekend. The weekend was filled with celebrations, fun activities, and events, education, and support for the LGTBQ+ community. The Chamber will continue to celebrate and recognize Pride Month throughout June. Check out our calendar of events for more information.
We are proud to support and promote the 80th Anniversary D-Day Parade and Events, honoring the sacrifices of our veterans who participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France, on June 6th, 1944. The Parade and Block Party in Ipswich on Saturday, June 8th, promises to be a very special day.
With the return of June at the Chamber, we resume our annual celebration of Small Business Week on Greater Cape Ann. Congratulations to the 2024 Small Businesspersons of the Year, including Erika Brown, The Ellis Family, Ramie Reader, John and Cathy Porter, and John Muldoon. Our winners are true community business leaders who give back to the community in countless ways. Small Business Week is a reminder to support our local businesses in every way, whether it’s shopping locally, choosing a local service provider, or frequenting a local establishment.
June on Greater Cape Ann is bursting with countless events and activities. Be sure to check out our websites and follow the Chamber on social media to see what’s happening. This is a perfect time of year to explore, experience something new and unique, or simply revisit one of your favorite local adventures.
We hope to see you at one or many of our amazing venues.
Warmest Regards,
Karen Ristuben, President, GCACC Board of Directors
Steve Buckley, CEO Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce
