The time has come for Cape Ann to bid a fond farewell to Matt and Missy Anzivino as they prepare to begin the next chapter in their life story in Florida. Their Cape Ann chapter began in early 2009 when Matt was hired by Maine Course Hospitality Group to manage their recently acquired and newly renovated Rockport Inn & Suites. For the first few months Matt commuted to work between Cape Ann and Cape Cod, while Missy remained in Chatham for their daughters Rachel and Jordan to complete the school year with their classmates. That summer the family moved to Rockport and the rest – to coin a phrase – is Cape Ann history.
The Anzivino family quickly joined the Cape Ann Chamber family even as they were becoming part Rockport’s community fabric. Over the years, Matt and Missy and their team at Rockport Inn & Suites brought energy and spirit to Christmas in Rockport and the community Easter egg hunt, while hosting countless Rockport Division meetings and Chamber events at the inn. Along the way, Matt helped bring Santa to Rockport, while Missy, Rachel and Jordan – as Santa’s elves – organized photos with Santa and gave joy to hundreds of children. In 2016 Matt became Chamber Board President and took as the theme of his presidency year “Oceans of Change, Waves of Opportunity”. During his time at the Chamber helm, Matt ably navigated our ship through changing seas while helping us ride every opportunity forward with his steady, skilled hand on the wheel.
Chamber CEO Ken Riehl added: “Matt and his wife Missy and their daughters Rachel and Jordan are what we mean when talk about our Chamber family. Matt has been an incredible partner with the Chamber, and supporter of Rockport and the entire Cape Ann region. Whether he’s coaching the Rockport High basketball team, hosting Rotary or Chamber meetings, supporting the Innkeepers Association or serving as a distribution point for Chamber publications, Matt has always given to his community. Matt was also one of my earliest supporters, on the hiring committee, and we have weathered through challenging times, shared terrific successes and had a lot of fun. I wish Matt and his family the very best, and know that they will be as involved in their next community and as successful as they have been here on Cape Ann.”
Now as they embark on their next great adventure, we express our sincere thanks and gratitude to Matt and Missy Anzivino for their loving, generous and dedicated years of service to the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce. And even more importantly we thank Matt and Missy and Rachel and Jordan for their friendship and for becoming part of our extended Cape Ann family.
