Who are you and what is your business?

I (Katie) live locally and work full-time in Gloucester, in addition to co-owning the European Wax Center franchise here.
I (Janette) have been a Gloucester Resident my whole life.

Please provide a brief description of your company.

European Wax Center celebrates every body with our products that perfectly complement our variety of women’s and men’s waxing services. Reveal your smoothest skin ever with bikini waxing, Brazilian waxing, facial, upper lip, eyebrow waxing, or full body waxing at a local waxing center near you.

Our Story: European Wax Center began as a family-owned business and is now the largest provider of waxing services in the United States. With more than 1,000 locations nationwide, we offer a full suite of waxing services for every body. Since 2004, we’ve provided our guests with a first-class, consistent waxing experience.

What inspired you to start your business and what keeps you going?

I (Katie) was inspired by my lifelong friend and business partner, Dawn, who is an incredible entrepreneur, finding or creating amazing businesses and working hard to make them thrive. She already was running several European Wax Center franchises closer to where we grew up, and I suggested she open one on the North Shore, where I live. She said she’d do it if I would be her partner, and, despite my own full-time job, I took on the challenge with my husband. I’ve never regretted it. I was also already a customer of European Wax Center (thanks to Dawn) and knew well what an excellent service we provide.

What aspect of your business are you most passionate about?

I love that European Wax Center loves and respects our customers and is passionate about serving their needs. We provide great service at reasonable prices and do so with professional employees who know their work and our business.

What sets your business apart from other similar businesses?

Do you have a goal you want the business to achieve in the next one, 5, or 10 years?

I would like for all of Gloucester to know who we are and where we are located, and for folks who have never waxed or never waxed with us to try our services. I’m positive they’ll become repeat customers.

Why do you love the Greater Cape Ann region and doing business locally?

I (Katie) am passionate about Cape Ann. I began working full time here during Covid, long before opening our wax center (my second) here in Gloucester. I love the people, the diversity, the honesty, the work ethic, and the welcome I’ve experienced in this community. I love how folks in Gloucester like to know each other and to fill each other in on great businesses and that we’ve already benefited from word of mouth, Facebook conversations, etc.

As someone doing business in this area, how has or how can the Chamber help your business?

We’d love to get the word out to those who don’t know we’re here yet. We’d love to promote other local businesses and work in partnership with them. And we’d love to contribute to our community more, as we were just honored to do in the first official Cape Ann Pride celebration.
