Jewelry Whisperer
April 15, 2025
Who are you and what is your business?

My name is Alissa Eck, the heart and soul behind the Jewelry Whisperer. I opened a brick and mortar jewelry and art gallery in Boston in 2012 but transitioned to a private concierge jeweler in 2020 to better meet my clients needs in Cape Ann and its surrounding areas. I find that with a flexible location, I can provide my clients’ the best service and quality while maintaining a balanced life.
Please provide a brief description of your company.
Whether it’s designing something new, finding a hidden gem, giving old jewelry a second life, or understanding the value of what you already own — expert, personalized, door-to-door service makes it easy to discover jewelry that fits your taste, your story, and your style.
What inspired you to start your business and what keeps you going?
I grew up immersed in the jewelry business, thanks to entrepreneurial parents who built a Victorian-style village in Michigan which attracted clients from all over. They showcased European antiques, collectibles, art, and fine jewelry. My dad was the charismatic face of the business, while my mom was a brilliant marketer, instilling in me the values of knowledge and grit. By high school, I was deeply involved in sales, displays, and learning how a small business impacts a local community.

After earning a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice in Boston, I continued to hone my craft, working at various jewelry stores. I joined Lux Bond and Green, becoming their top sales associate in my first year and developing a passion for luxury brands like Rolex and Patek Philippe. This passion led me to Cartier on Newbury Street, where I thrived for seven years in sales and management, optimizing their world-class training in New York, Paris, and Geneva.
Eventually, I returned to my roots and fulfilled my dream by opening my own jewelry and art gallery on Boston’s Charles Street. Blending my love for antiques and contemporary design, I created a haven for jewelry enthusiasts and collectors unlike any other.
Furthermore, I completed the coveted Graduate Gemologist (GG) program from Gemological Institute of America, recognized as the highest standard in the industry. This achievement testifies to my advanced knowledge in gemstone identification and diamond grading, qualifying me to provide professional evaluations with the utmost confidence and accuracy.
With a track record encompassing retail, luxury brands, custom design, and appraisal, I’ve developed a comprehensive and intuitive knowledge of the magnificent realm of jewelry. I offer my clients unparalleled service- guiding custom creations; sourcing rare pieces; evaluating heirlooms; while offering a sympathetic ear.
What aspect of your business are you most passionate about? (history, conversation pieces, etc.)
Jewelry is more than adornment — it’s deeply personal. For as long as I can remember, jewelry has been my way of expressing identity, confidence, and connection. That passion evolved into a lifelong journey of helping others find pieces that feel like they were made just for them.

As the Jewelry Whisperer, I’m guided by intuition and experience to find or create what resonates most — from meaningful heirlooms to custom designs. Every piece is chosen or crafted with care, becoming a joyful extension of the person who wears it.
I love taking an heirloom and redesigning it to suit its new owner. I believe jewelry is a wonderful way to keep our connections to our ancestors and those that have paved the way before us, so it makes us happy everytime we look at it.
Is there something unique about your business that you’d like to share that most people wouldn’t know about?
When people ask what I do, it’s often hard to put into words because I see it as a calling, not just a profession. Although I was born into the jewelry business, my journey hasn’t been a straight path. I originally came to Boston to be a police officer! But despite exploring other careers, jewelry found its way back to me, especially during a time when my health took a downturn. It’s been a long journey including 3 brain surgeries in 25 years, making me very grateful for my life, my clients and the ability to inspire people through jewelry.
What sets your business apart from other similar businesses?

I don’t know any other concierge jewelers with lifelong experience in the jewelry business. Especially one with such an extensive background in luxury, retail, design and appraisals. Furthermore, I truly want to add to the wellbeing of my clients, make jewelry fun and rewarding, and provide the knowledge necessary to make wise investments.
Do you have a goal you want the business to achieve in the next one, 5, or 10 years?
In one year I want to be known in the Cape Ann area, 5 years I want to be known across the U.S. and 10 years I want to be known around the world 😉 .
Why do you love the Greater Cape Ann region and doing business locally?
I believe I was divinely guided to Cape Ann—a place where the natural beauty and the ocean’s energy resonate deeply with me. The water here feels like a constant source of inspiration, grounding me while also sparking creativity. Living and working in this coastal haven has allowed me to connect more deeply with my purpose, blending my love for jewelry with the tranquility and harmony of this special place. Cape Ann has become not just where I live, but where I feel most connected to the work I’m meant to do.
As someone doing business in this area, how has or how can the Chamber help your business?
As a new member to the chamber, it has been deeply refreshing to meet fellow business owners in order to support one another and learn how our businesses can help each other! The staff and leadership has been more than kind in making sure that I understand all of the benefits available. Can’t wait to get further involved going forward.
