Who are you and what is your business?

My name is Marc Lacroix. My business is LACROIX AND ASSOCIATES, in Ipswich, founded in 2023 with just one full-time employee.

Please provide a brief description of your company.

LACROIX AND ASSOCIATES provides Tax Prep, Tax Advisory, and Bookkeeping services.

What inspired you to start your business and what keeps you going?

I am inspired and love working with small businesses, helping to manage books, developing savings plans, planning for taxes, healthcare, and retirement.

What aspect of your business are you most passionate about? (history, conversation pieces, etc.)

I am passionate and excited when clients talk about the reduced stress from the work we do together. No one likes unexpected tax bills or tax letters. I help to manage expectations, and I can contact the IRS or MA DOR on behalf of clients if unexpected bills or letters show up.

Is there something unique about your business that you’d like to share that most people wouldn’t know about?

I am a registered Enrolled Agent with the IRS and MA DOR, which allows me to represent and negotiate on behalf clients in front of the IRS or MA DOR.

What sets your business apart from other similar businesses? (defining qualities, practices or approaches)

My smaller tax practice allows me to spend more time with clients, allowing me to provide more complete answers to tax, bookkeeping, and business questions.

Do you have a goal you want the business to achieve in the next one, 5, or 10 years?

I plan to continue growing my business organically via word-of-mouth referrals and advertising.

Over the next year, the plan is to enhance our client experience by expanding our digital capabilities. We aim to streamline the client onboarding process and implement secure, user-friendly portals for document sharing and communication, making it easier for clients to access our services and stay informed about their financial planning.

Looking ahead to five years, we envision Lacroix and Associates becoming a recognized leader in specialized tax planning, particularly in areas such as estate tax, retirement planning, and small business advisory.

Why do you love the Greater Cape Ann region and doing business locally?

I love the Greater Cape Ann Chamber. The tax profession is a very private and personal engagement. I believe that growing the business through Chamber of Commerce networking makes a lot of sense.

As someone doing business in this area, how has or how can the Chamber help your business?

The Chamber could be a huge help for my business. I look forward to attending Networking events on a monthly basis, to meet and talk with prospective small business owners and people in need of tax or bookkeeping services.
