How many years have you been in business as a solopreneur? 6 years
How many years have you been a Chamber Member? 3 years
Please provide a brief description of what your business is all about. Social media marketing, email marketing services, advertising, and managing social media channels for small Businesses on the North Shore.
What enticed you to start a solopreneur business? I was in the Advertising industry in Boston for years. My role was Studio Manager and Graphic Artist. I have always had a freelance side gig as long as I can remember. To add to my skill set, I enrolled in a Digital Marketing program to keep myself current and evolve with industry change. I started my business in 2018.
What is “the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” of working on your own?
The best thing is my relationships with my clients. There is mutual respect, and I think it’s very important to nurture those relationships, be a great listener, support them in the best way possible with fresh ideas, and connect with them one one-on-one. I sincerely have admiration for anyone who runs a small business, as they truly have heart, soul and so much passion for what they do,
My passion is working with small shops and storefront owners (which is most of my client base) and I also have a few local hospitality clients. I came from a family of entrepreneurs, so I can relate. Most small business owners do not have the time to market their own business, so they rely on me to spread their message and always put them and their “product or service” in the best light. Building trust is also very important, so clients know I will work hard for them and offer the best of my services.
For me, there is really no “ugly” as I sincerely I love what I do.
Why are you a Chamber member? I joined the Cape Ann Chamber when it merged with the Ipswich Chamber a few years back. I was on the Ipswich Chamber Board as well as a member. Prior to that, I worked for the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce in Marketing, so I appreciate how Chambers work to support their community in business and tourism.
What advice would you give others looking to take the leap into “solopreneurship?” Follow your gut, and do what you love for work. Take the leap gradually, even if at first it’s a side gig!
Where do you see your business going in the future?
My business is currently part-time, but I do hope to grow with new prospective clients!
